Marcel Creyghton has been producing furniture from his rustic workshop at the foot of the Mount Arthur range southwest of Nelson since 1984.
Originally from Holland with a background in Sociology, Marcel immigrated to New Zealand with his young family for a change in lifestyle. His wood made for Living venture is the result.
Using the simple process of steambending to shape his woodcraft, Marcel is able to utilise the natural strength and character of the timber's grain. All timber is carefully selected and matched to produce woodcraft that will enhance any space.
His range includes quirky 'k' chairs, rocking chairs, dining tables, dining chairs, coffee tables, sturdy stools, drums and bowls. Pieces can be made to order and are available in elm, beech and rimu.
All of the products are hand-finished with hardwearing oils and wax.
You can find Marcel and his work, every Saturday, at the Nelson Market.
